Media Library

Upload images once and reuse them in any email in your workspace.

The media library holds the images your workspace uses in its emails: logos, banners, product shots. Upload an image once and anyone in the workspace can insert it into any email built in the visual editor.

Images in the library are hosted by Mailcrate at a public address, which is what lets them show up in your recipients' inboxes.

Insert an image

In the visual editor, add an Image block, or select an existing one. Background images on a section work the same way.

Choose the image field. Insert image opens with your workspace's images, newest first. Use Search images to find one by file name.

Select an image to insert it.

You can also paste the address of an image hosted elsewhere into the image field instead of using the library.

Upload an image

In Insert image, choose Upload image, or drop a file onto it. The image is added to the library and inserted in one go. Keep the window open until it finishes: Mailcrate processes the image after uploading, and inserts it when it is ready.

FormatsPNG, JPG, GIF and WebP. SVG isn't accepted, because most email clients don't show it.
SizeUp to 5 MB per image.
At a timeOne image per upload.

Keep email images small: a large image makes the email slow to load, especially on a phone.

Delete an image

In Insert image, choose the delete button next to the image and confirm.

Deleting breaks emails that use the image

A deleted image is removed from where it is hosted. Every email that shows it, including emails that were already sent and are sitting in people's inboxes, shows a broken image instead. This can't be undone. Only delete an image you are sure no email uses.

Good to know

  • The library is shared by the whole workspace. Everyone who can edit emails sees the same images.
  • The library is for the visual editor. In an HTML email, write the image address into your HTML. For React Email templates, your developers host images themselves.
  • Image addresses are public. Anyone with the address can open the image, as with any image in an email. Don't upload anything confidential.
